Collaborative Divorce
A divorce using collaborative law can allow you to obtain a divorce and maintain the ability to be a good parent with the other party without damaging each other or the children through a conflict-ridden court process. It is a healthy, safe and private environment in which to obtain a divorce.
The process involves a participation agreement in which you promise to:
- Negotiate in good faith and disclose relevant information
- Work toward resolution of all issues without threatening court intervention
- Cooperate in joint sessions so that you can achieve the best possible settlement
You will be counseled by your own collaborative attorney. A divorce coach, financial expert and child specialist will help you work toward a satisfactory agreement without having to go through a prolonged court battle.
Nebraska Divorce and Mediation Lawyers
Sometimes, divorcing couples have come to an agreement about most issues and do not need the services of a collaborative team. In those situations, our law firm can assist with mediation. Mediation is another alternative to litigation in which a third party helps people involved in a dispute to form an agreement. Our trained mediators assist clients with mediation when Nebraska courts require all couples involved in questions of parenting and custody to mediate a parenting plan. We also assist clients with mediation of conflicts not related to divorce.
